Lost Draft Productions and The Reptile Show
in association with
The Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks
present…
The “NO Soup for YOU!” Snapping Turtle Count
WHO: Hosted by The REPTILE Show
WHAT: A capture and count recording of the Common Snapping Turtles in Thoreau Lake
WHERE: Blendon Woods Metro Park (Eastern Waterfowl Observation Deck at Thoreau Lake)
WHEN: Wednesday nights 6:00 PM during the month of August
WHY: We are filming the pilot episode of The Reptile Show which focuses on Snapping Turtles.
HOW: All of the turtles will be captured by show host and reptile expert Coyote Peterson, the animals will be measured, weighed, recorded, photographed and released back into the lake.
All park visitors are invited to attend the event and watch the filming and captures from a safe distance. For safety and legal reasons pertaining to both Lost Draft Productions, The Reptile Show, and The Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks, all park visitors are required to follow standard park rules and MAY NOT leave the marked trails or observation areas.
Our professional Reptile experts will however bring turtles up onto designated areas of the walkways to answer questions and most importantly, to give you an up close look at one of the world’s most dangerous and prehistoric looking reptiles. (photographs are welcome)
Filming and reptile captures will be subject to change or cancellation based on weather conditions. In the event of forecasted rain, shoots may be moved to either Tuesday or Thursday nights…please contact the park nature center if the weather is questionable, or visit www.thereptileshow.com for immediate and up to date stats on filming conditions.
Disclaimer: There is no guarantee that several or any Snapping Turtles will be caught on each expedition. The mud flats will be expansive and these animals are elusive. Nature photography can sometimes be a patient waiting process…so if you plan to come out for the count please be prepared to stake out with us as we wait for a turtle to give us a sign of its location. Bring with you binoculars to help us scout, a camera, some snacks and a drink. During stake out time we will be present to answer questions and educate about these amazing reptiles, as well as any other reptiles or amphibians of the local ecosystem you may be curious about.
